This particular role involves the implementation and execution of financial control systems. The company currently operates on various systems ranging from a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to a Project Status spreadsheet to an excel based bank recon and Pastel Accounting. This role will analyse the current systems, implement the necessary changes and effectively execute and manage the new system. This is an existing position within the company but the individual filling this role will have the opportunity to shape this role in his/her own way.

Scope of Work

Financial

  • Implement and manage financial control system;
  • Financial Management and daily processing of bank account, reconciliations, debtors, creditors, petty cash, fixed assets;
  • Ensure invoicing and collections are done timeously;
  • Statutory returns and compliance with SARS, CIPRO and Department of Labour;
  • Processing of leave, monthly travel claims, cellphone and expenses, and preparing payroll input reports;
  • Ensure external and legal analysts hours and invoices are captured, checked, balanced and billed;
  • Preparing management accounts, financial statements and liaising with auditors at year end;
  • Liaison with suppliers (Landlord, IT service providers, printers, office furniture, etc.);
  • Running exception reports to ensure that projects, payment allocations and invoicing ties up.

Operations

  • Manage the Office Administrator and Cleaner to ensure office runs smoothly;
  • Travel bookings and ordering of office supplies;
  • Allocating projects to analysts based on loading and targets, are re-allocation when necessary;
  • Ensure analyst weekly planning done before monthly OPCO meeting, prepare, check and present OPCO pack at OPCO meeting;
  • Check project age analysis on regular basis and give feedback regarding open jobs;
  • Monthly checks on analysts certificates issued and follow up on A0 closing procedures;
  • Continuously develop & maintain Project Status en Incentives spreadsheets;
  • Managing the smooth running of IT within the company;
  • Maintaining up to date personal records for all staff and prepare monthly scorecards for performance reviews for staff.

Qualifications

BCom accounting/honours;

Experience

  • Between 6 and 10 years work experience in the financial controlling/accounting field;
  • Have a good understanding of accounting and interpretation of financial systems and financial statements;
  • Experience in implementing and managing financial controls.

Education:

  • Bachelors (Preferred)
